SpinachWorks, Inc., is all about creating original paintings and limited edition prints that depict Popeye, Olive Oyl, Bluto and Whimpy in scenes designed to appeal to specific groups, such as loyal college alumni/alumnae and avid sports fans. The prints will be based initially upon original watercolor paintings done by Toby Bluth, a world-renowned artist who excels in capturing the vintage style of well-known animation characters, especially those in the Disney universe. For examples of Toby's Disney paintings and prints, please visit www.disneyfineart.com.

          The company's inaugural painting is entitled "TOUCHDOWN - YALE!" It features Popeye, in a Yale football uniform, smashing Bluto into the ground just in front of Yale's end zone as Popeye reaches out to catch the winning pass in the Yale Bowl, thus forever memorializing the dominance of Yale football. All of this is happening in front of Olive Oyl, dressed in a Yale cheerleader's uniform, who is waving her pompoms with unbridled glee on the far sideline. Did you notice that Bluto is wearing a crimson-colored jersey?  

             

          The regular edition will be limited to 500 prints. There will also be a deluxe edition of 50 remarqued prints. Each print in each edition will be signed by Toby and numbered. The image size for both editions will be approximately 8.5"x11", and each print will be handsomely framed. The first 50 people to order will also be entitled to request the dedication of their choice (up to 10 words), which will be handwritten by Toby on the mat near his signature, compliments of the artist. (There will be a $25 fee for all other dedications.)  The estimated price of each framed print in the regular edition is $495 ($645 for a framed remarqued print), plus shipping, handling and sales tax (if applicable). SpinachWorks does, however, reserve the right to raise the price at any time without advance notice.

Your contact information (name, mailing address, phone, email) should be included so we can confirm your order and method of payment. A 50% deposit will be required to hold your print (and your place in line), which can be paid with a personal check.

          Hopefully this is just the beginning of Popeye's participation in Yale's athletic program. He and his friends might also find themselves at other institutions of higher learning, helping the teams at those universities defeat their arch rivals.
